The simple answer is no.
This is clearly a misapplication of outdated claims and seemingly countless myths and misunderstandings about how our dogs think, learn and relate to those around them. There is a big difference between a dominant dog, an excited dog, one whose only stimulation is out on a walk, one who hasn’t been taught any manners or patience. Don’t assume that all dogs will naturally want to dominate, it’s simply not true. Dogs are pack animals and in every pack there are leaders and followers, just like at your place of work. Now if a dog has no visible leadership within the pack, it may cause the dog to stress and take on this role themselves. This, however, is not dominance and something you can and should address by making sure you, and everyone else in your family, help your dog by giving them some structure and guidance to follow and become your own pack leader.
